Three Personal Injury Myths Busted

Three Personal Injury Myths Busted

There have always been and continues to be a lot of myths, rumours, half-truths and misunderstandings surrounding personal injury claims in the UK, be they for road traffic accidents, injuries at work or accidents in day to day life. Below is The Accident Claimline’s top three myths that we feel need busting:

Myth 1: If I make a claim against my boss or employer, I will get sacked?

A: Employees and workers are protected in UK law and are allowed to pursue a claim against their employer. An employer that reacts to such a claim would be liable for unfair dismissal, a situation most employers will be keen to avoid. An injury claim against an employer can also help to make that business realise that perhaps they need to review and improve their health and safety measures, stop similar accidents happening again and help everyone in future.

Myth 2: Injury claims take ages to deal with?

A: In our experience most claims are relatively straightforward, taking an average of between 8 to 12 months to settle. Should your claim be more complex, for example involving more severe injuries and perhaps ongoing medical attention and rehabilitation, then claims can take longer. However, we are able to provide more specific information based on individual circumstances and no matter how complex your case, The Accident Claimline’s experienced solicitors will keep any inconvenience to you to a minimum.

Myth 3: You have to go to Court to get Compensation?

A: No! The majority of successful claims that we have seen over the past 20 years have settled without going to Court. Whilst the Court process may be suggested in certain claims, especially where the other side (usually a large insurance company) have denied being liable, this adds a significant amount to their costs and most cases will settle without going to Court.
