Cyclists in £65,000 injury claim

Edinbugh City Council has received claims from 2 members of the public who were injured cycling in the Scottish capital.

The claims are separate incidents that both involve injuries sustained from the bicycles getting caught in the cities tram lines. One claimant who fell at Haymarket in October 2013 is seeking £50,000 alone for jaw & knee injuries, including subsequent physiotherapy treatment.

Edinburgh City Council have advised cyclists to take care whilst crossing tramlines, by taking as large an angle as possible at a slow speed, ultimately advising cyclist to dismount if they are are unsure. The Council added that the clearly visible lines do not represent a danger to cyclists who take sufficient care when crossing them.
