Claims cold call ban reversed

In a surprise recent move, widely condemned by claims management professionals including ourselves here at The Accident Claimline, the government has decided to reverse its intention to place a ban on annoying cold-calls from unscrupulous claims management companies (CMC’s).

Baroness Buscombe, in a recent House of Lords hearing of the Financial Guidance and Claims Bill, said that despite
listening to the views of peers – the majority of whom are completely in favour of a cold call ban – there are ‘complex
issues’ to work through and that more time was required to consider the issue properly.

Baroness Buscombe added:

"I have asked officials to consider the evidence for implementing a cold-calling ban in relation to claims management
activities, and I am pleased to say that the government are working through the detail of a ban on cold calling by claims
management companies"
